I have waited my entire life for the chance to add a Platinum label Barbie® to my collection. I have been an avid Barbie® collector ever since I can remember but I could never get my hands on a Platinum label. Rather than playing house with my dolls I insisted on keeping them in pristine condition and was certain to never have them leave their box. When I discovered The Karl Lagerfeld Barbie®, I immediately notified my family that they’d be getting up with me at 0230 am (EST) to prepare for her release. I had all the right web pages pulled up and when three o’clock struck, I hit the add to cart button so soon as my little finders would allow.
So there I was along with my family, my heart beating out of my chest, I had that Barbie® in my cart!! All I had to do now was enter my credit card information.
As soon as I clicked “process my order,” a message appeared that said something like “Oops! looks like there’s been a problem.” I read it as “too bad, that was your chance, you are never going to own this Barbie.”
Barbiecollector.com froze and shut down in seconds for the hundreds of thousands of collectors trying to get lucky enough to own one of the 999 pieces of perfection.
Once I clicked over to the Net-a-Porter website: I didn’t even have a chance.
I was so close close to owning her but she slipped away. I guess it just wasn’t meant to be (this time).
Net-a-Porter made a whopping $200K selling just a portion of these beauties while several “eBay-er’s” are making their 100% profit.
I guess now all I can do is go spend my $200 on something else…
Just one week before ‘OZ The Great and Powerful’ hits theaters, HSN will be launching a collection inspired by the greatly awaited film. The line will feature accessories and clothing created by designers such as Naeem Khan, Badgley Mischka, Adrienne Landau, Raven Kauffman, Urban Decay, Be&D and Steve Madden. The collection will be available online starting February 14th, and a live event hosted by HSN will air online and be televised March 1 and 2.
Here are a few items you can expect to see…
The Oz collection will have prices ranging from $20 to $1,799.
With all of the hype, or lack thereof, for Neiman Marcus for Target, the line was a bit less than expected. The featured items were pricey and pretentious leaving buyers uninterested. To me, more clothing as opposed to yoga mats and cookie cutters would have made this line much more appealing to buyers.
The Neiman Marcus collection was expected to be greater than any line ever before. That’s why it was such a surprise to find items in the store a week after the release. I can remember employees chattering about stores selling out and the expected arrival of frugal and stylish shoppers. Prices for the NM line began to drop after just three weeks. Now items are being sold for 70% off with more expected price drops to come. This was said to be an “Epic Retail Fail for Target.”
Will Target ever have another collection as great as the Missoni collaboration from last year? And if so, which label will be responsible for selling out and shutting the websites down this time?
The eccentric Mother Monster, Lady Gaga #Tweeted her followers today regarding the leaked photos of her unreleased perfume FAME. Gaga tweeted: “My perfume was designed for women, but a lot of my gay friends wear it.” This perfume is to be the first ever black liquid perfume available. Of course her scent has to be as unique as she is.
Here is the first official photograph of the already anticipated perfume…

Barbie® Adores Katy Perry…and Cupcakes!
These miniature-sized superstars couldn’t look better. Katy looks like she came right from the “California Girls” video while Nicki’s Barbie closely resembles the “Pink Friday” cover.
